Upstream
I've always found flowers to be a source of comfort and loved the idea of creating a bouquet reminiscent of a shield, something that would wrap around and protect. This winter while driving over the ice covered Susquehanna River, I noticed the jagged gray blue ice and rocks next to the warm orange and peach tones of the sunset. I loved this clash of color and temperature and knew I had to bring that combination into a floral piece. I shared the idea with photographer Alyssa Hannigan of Alyssa Christine Photography and together we put together a shoot that told the story of the river in late winter and the strength that flowers and nature can provide.
